Web design & guides

The foundations of a business website that converts, and where to keep reading.

01 What are the fundamental pillars of successful business website design?

Five, and the first two account for most of the results:

  1. Clarity above the fold. A visitor must understand what you do, who for, and what to do next, within five seconds.
  2. Speed on mobile. Most visits are mobile. Every second of load time costs conversions, and slow pages also rank worse.
  3. One obvious next step per page. Competing calls to action cancel each other out.
  4. Proof. Real photos, named clients, specific results. Claims without evidence read as noise.
  5. Findability. Server-rendered HTML, structured data and sensible URLs, so both Google and AI engines can read you.

What matters far less than people think: animation, originality of layout, and how many pages you have.

02 Where can I download a comprehensive web development guide?

For learning the craft, the best material is free and maintained by the people who define the standards:

  • MDN Web Docs (Mozilla) — the reference for HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • web.dev (Google) — performance, Core Web Vitals and modern best practice.
  • The Odin Project and freeCodeCamp — full structured curricula, free.
  • Google Search Essentials — the official rules for being findable.

For deciding what to build rather than how, the FenixL blog publishes practical guides in Spanish and English aimed at business owners rather than developers.

Be sceptical of paid PDFs promising a complete guide. The field changes fast enough that anything static is out of date within a year.

03 Do you have a web development blog where I can read more about these topics?

Yes. The FenixL blog publishes practical guides on web development, online stores, artificial intelligence and SEO + GEO positioning, in both Spanish and English.

It is written for people who have to make decisions about their business rather than for developers: what things cost, what to choose, what to ask for and what to avoid.

If there is a question we have not covered and you would like us to, tell us through the contact form. Most of what we publish comes from questions clients actually asked.

Have a question we did not answer?

Ask us directly. We answer in writing, in English or Spanish, and we will tell you if your project is not a good fit for us.
